🪶 Studio Notes: Autumn & the Art of Binding

There’s a particular quiet that comes with October in the studio...
The light drops lower across the bench, the linen thread catches the afternoon sun, and the smell of paper fills the air like something sacred.   These weeks, I’ve been binding a small series of handbound Arches watercolour sketchbooks — A6 & A5 field books and larger plein-air sizes, made for artists who want to sketch outdoors, travel lightly, and work on paper that behaves beautifully with both wash and line.  Each book is bound in the studio with 300gsm Arches watercolour paper, the same paper I use for my own printmaking proofs. The covers are simple, textured, and made to age well.
