Our lay-flat Quarto format sketchbooks are covered in Cornish & Capaldi linens - some have hand screen-printed Chiyogami & Nepalese Hatakami papers. They are lightweight, yet strong, sketchbooks and we've bound them with 2mm Dutch board for extra strength in these editions - Each contain 30 pages of medium weight 180gsm, Lambeth Cartridge. Smooth ivory paper that is suitable for all dry media and light ink work too. For heavier water-based work we recommend our slightly thicker 370 gsm editions or our watercolour sketchbooks. Ideal for a day out sketching or as your go-to studio book!
Lambeth Cartridge is a Fourdrinier paper, made on a cylinder mould. It is acid free and great for expansive sketches in a number of dry media, or for light ink techniques. An ideal sketching companion. Hand-cut paper signatures, stitched with linen thread and finished with silk headbanding. Quarto is an old British Imperial paper size which is slightly smaller than A4.
