Notes from the Press - A Slice of Life in Print
Each print begins as a fragment of lived experience - carved, inked, and pressed into being. Notes from the Press gathers moments where observation meets ritual; where myth, memory, and making intertwine. Every piece is a slice of life, held fast in paper and pigment.
I'm a fine art print maker (& book binder) working & lecturing for more than thirty years. My work is a celebration of textures, contrasts, and the connection between people and the environments they inhabit. Each piece is a love letter to the places that shape me. A slice of my life in print.. a work in progress, evolving and growing.
Leigh Woods reminds us of the power of place—how it shapes our stories and our art. As a printmaker, it’s a constant reminder to look closer, to carve with intention, and to leave an imprint, much like the woods have done for generations. It’s a place full of history and natural beauty that has inspired countless visitors.
Clifton is a special place. Its Georgian architecture, winding streets, and iconic suspension bridge create a sense of timelessness that feels both grounding and inspiring. Every corner of this neighbourhood tells a story, and I find myself drawn to its contrasts—its quiet elegance and vibrant energy. As a printmaker, I transform these places into linocut prints, blending contemporary & traditional techniques with modern inspirations.
